It’s common knowledge to de-clutter and clean every nook and cranny in your house before a buyer inspection. Wilsons want to give you the latest ideas to leave a lasting first impression on your potential buyer.

Its like getting ready for a first date, over do it and you will be back on the market (Excuse the pun) as quick as you can say RSVP, get it just right and you will be simply irresistible.

Wilsons paid a visit to luxe styling guru, Bec Feldman at Frankie Say Relax, a new retail homewares & accessories store, to get some tips on how to prepare your home for a buyer inspection. Fill that coffee mug, or if your reading this at night pour another vino.

“It’s about seeing the potential of the house… you want to keep it reasonably neutral throughout. That way the buyer can see if their style will fit with the layout of the home.”

Set the mood…

First things first, we need to set the mood and vibe in your house to the potential buyer. It’s a no brainer, but you need to have the basic flow of style upon entry until exit. What’s the first thing you notice when you enter someones home? Is it the run of timber, the lush throw rugs draping over chairs or couches, a certain cultural theme, or beautiful prints catching your eye? Whatever the vibe keep it simplistic and not too over the top, people need to imagine themselves in your home, everyone wants to see the possibilities of how they can make your house potentially their own.

It’s the little things…

It’s all in the details… Little things that can make a big impact. Cushion covers, vases, books, candles. Oh, and did we mention candles. Candles are the little hero in your home that smells volumes… A good scent is like an expensive perfume, a must for the new age buyer inspection.

Do not disturb…

The Boudoir, your dream space, the place where we spend hours drifting off into a lovely slumber. Whether it’s ghetto or glam make sure it’s fresh as a daisy. A big fluffy throw, clashing against a geometric cover can make it all pop. The feng-shui of a well set out bedroom creates balance and clarity. A hint of greenery in a textured woven pot plant gives a calm vibe to any bedroom, this look is trending across the interior design world. Does your bedroom tick all of those boxes? The buyer will be trying to see themselves in your space.

The tribe meets here…

Your tribe, your family, you all meet in the lounge room.  It’s a place where you sit to discuss events of the day, a time to relax and chat or just snuggle on the couch. Make sure their is a good basic layout so the potential buyer can see their family  enjoying time here. In this freezing winter that has blanketed Geelong a gorgeous rug, or throw looks stunning draping across the couch. Get a little  adventurous with a hint of culture, or choose to keep it completely neutral with some woven wall pieces.

Extra extra!

That extra space, or is it a study? We just hit the nail on the head didn’t we? Its not quite a study, its not quite big enough for a bedroom, so what exactly do we do with it? Well right there is your answer… this is an extra advantage! Make that space ooze confidence. Don’t just hope no one will see it, make it a clever area people will be impressed by. Why not make it a storage area? Or a project room? A teenage retreat? The options are endless, be sure not to leave it looking lonely and lost. Give it purpose like any good room deserves ;)
